And it does all this quietly. Over half of the computer’s internal volume is taken up by an internal heat sink so that the computer runs quietly without spinning its fans. I never heard the fans while testing. I didn’t need the more powerful chip for my workflows, and neither will users who primarily use their computers to send emails, browse the web and watch movies. So, unless you want the fastest computer for bragging rights or you’re designing 3D movies for work, consider the regular Mac Mini for $699 instead. Let’s talk a bit about the Studio Display, which I used with the Mac Studio. It’s a good-looking screen with an aluminum exterior, squared-off angles and a thin black bezel. Its base and footprint are compact given the 27-inch size. I liked that I could easily disconnect it from the Mac Studio and connect it to my work MacBook Pro through a single USB-C cord. It’s seamless. With one USB-C cord, I could charge my laptop, work on a bigger screen and access Apple’s built-in cameras and speakers.

Three things stand out to me about the iPad Air: the new front-facing camera for Center Stage video chat, support for faster 5G cellular networks if you want it and the new faster M1 processor. OK, four things: The new blue color is also pretty awesome. It’s a deeper hue than Apple used in 2020 and gives it a unique look that will stand out against most gray and black tablets. Apple has been brightening its products with new colors over recent years, and I hope the trend continues into its MacBook laptops.

Apple unveils new budget 5G iPhone and set of Macbooks. The iPhone SE isn’t as popular as Apple’s other phones. According to Counterpoint Research, the 2020 version of the iPhone SE accounted for 12% of all iPhone sales from its launch until Q4 2021. The addition of 5G, however, could make it a compelling option in international markets such as Europe and China where Apple didn’t yet have a low-priced 5G phone to compete with budget Android devices.

Instead of navigating to the FOTG by clicking on maps of states and counties, users choose a state in an alphabetical list of state names and click “submit” to reach their local FOTG. A document tree on the left side of the screen lists the five sections’ contents. Document collections and search results are displayed clearly in the center of the screen. Section IV has undergone the most significant changes to encourage consistency in document organization. For an interim period, Section IV will contain two collections called “Conservation Practices and Support Documents and Old Section IV. All documents displayed in Section IV are approved for use in the state, except for those held in a sub-folder labeled Archives. Files in Archives are no longer applicable.

Technical guides used in each field office are localized so that they apply specifically to the geographic area for which they are prepared. These documents are referred to as Field Office Technical Guides (FOTGs). The Ecological Sciences Division launched its fifth revised FOTG on September 19. Field offices, the guide’s primary users, will find the guide’s new design improves the user experience and encourages consistency in its five sections. The guide continues to allow states to add relevant information, but it is also organized to ensure its structure is consistent for all states.

As the company revealed the latest features Monday, executives said the ultimate goal is for the digital Wallet app to replace everything in your physical wallet.

The camera is good but it’s definitely one area where you can feel the cost savings. It’s got the same lens as the 2020 model but still takes slightly better pictures thanks to the image signal processor that comes with the latest A15 chip. Portrait shots, which nicely blur the background of your subject, can be taken of people, but it doesn’t detect pets for those images. There’s no night mode, which means shots taken in the dark aren’t as clear as they are on Apple’s more expensive phones. But it took nice, clean shots and did a good job capturing the deep reds of some tulips. The front-facing camera is solid for selfies with nice color and tone balance.

Finally, I’m a huge fan of Apple’s $299 Magic Keyboard. I know it’s expensive, but it allows you to turn the iPad Air into a more traditional laptop-like computer. I love sitting on the couch at night and browsing the web with a keyboard and trackpad, texting with friends or working on a story. I still turn to my Mac when I need to run lots of windowed apps for work, but the iPad Air is a great secondary computer. You might also consider the $129 Apple Pencil, which charges with magnets on the side of the iPad Air. It’s one of those things that’s convenient to have when you need it, like for signing documents on the go. Others may find it more useful for finely tuning photos and videos, drawing or taking notes, but I rarely use it for that.

The screen might be too small for some people who have gotten used to massive screens. I use a 32-inch Dell UltraSharp widescreen curved monitor at work. The Studio Display looked small when I first plugged it in, and I found myself missing the curve on my work monitor. But there aren’t many options if you need the 5K resolution. The $1,299 5K LG Ultrafine — now discontinued at Apple stores — is $300 less. It’s the same size and resolution, but it’s not made by Apple and the speakers and webcam are worse.

But if you have a bigger budget, I still think the best phones for most people are the $799 iPhone 13, or the smaller $699 iPhone 13 Mini if you like that size. You can unlock those phones with your face, they have nicer screens, they take better pictures, and they have better battery life. If you want to go all-out with the smoothest, brightest screen and nicer stainless steel materials, then the iPhone 13 Pro models are your best bet.

I like that it supports wireless charging if you have a Qi charging pad around the house, but it doesn’t support Apple’s newer MagSafe pucks, which magnetically attach to the back of the phone and charge even faster wirelessly. Finally, while most people looking for a budget phone are probably fine with 64GB of storage, I recommend spending $479 for the model with 128GB if you plan to download and save more apps, movies and games.

I found myself wishing that the Studio Display had more distinguishing features. Apple says it’s powered by an iPhone chip, but it doesn’t have an interface or other common monitor features, such as the ability to switch between inputs without plugging and unplugging cords. You can’t display inputs from multiple computers in split-screen, either, and it doesn’t let you stream media or act as a wireless speaker like some other displays. It also doesn’t support high refresh rates, which makes scrolling smoother and is important for gamers. Apple has started to include the feature on its phones, laptops and tablets under the marketing name “ProMotion,” so it may become a standard Apple feature during the lifetime of the Studio Display, but as it stands the monitor is less “future-proof.” For most people, this won’t be a deal-breaker.

The six-speaker setup is also excellent, although audiophiles will still likely opt for separate studio monitors or headphones. But the built-in speakers are good enough to listen to rock or pop music and more than sufficient for watching movies. Many monitors don’t have built-in speakers or webcams, so both are a nice touch. The Mac Studio is not user-upgradable. Apple says it is “modular,” which refers to the fact that the screen isn’t built-in. But that means power users can’t add additional RAM, graphics cards or storage space, unlike on high-end Windows desktops.

The new products are the culmination of a Mac revival that started over five years ago. In 2017, Apple said that it had formed a new internal group to address the issues that artists, creatives and computer scientists had raised with the state of Apple’s high-end desktop computers, which were rarely updated and languishing at the time. It’s strategic for Apple, even if it sells four laptops for every desktop, as company officials said in 2018. Creative professionals, who have historically preferred Mac computers over Windows, need options on the high end that can support computationally intensive work such as video editing or 3D rendering. In exchange, Apple stays relevant to highly skilled talent and gets a marketing boost from impressive artists using its products.

People always ask me what iPhone they should buy. My response is usually to ask another question: What do you want to do with it? If you just need an iPhone that can run every app and the latest software, then the iPhone SE is a great buy for the price. It’s a huge upgrade for folks coming from similar devices, like the old iPhone 8. It’s also a great first phone for teens — these days, a lot of kids get their first phone when they’re in middle school.

Apple’s iOS 16 software, which is in beta and will release to everyone this fall, lets you add all sorts of things to the lock screen. So, you can quickly view the weather, the battery status of your AirPods, upcoming calendar events and more. On a current iPhone, though, you still have to tap the power button to turn on the screen.

  1. What's the step for participating in www.fox5atlanta/contestThis article was so helpful! I've always wondered about the process of notifying winners in contests. It's great to know that Fox 5 Atlanta takes multiple steps to ensure winners are contacted promptly and fairly.

The breakdown of the notification timeline was insightful. It's reassuring to know that they don't keep winners in suspense for too long. Swift communication must add an extra layer of excitement for the lucky contestants.

I'm curious about the methods they use to reach out to winners. Do they send out emails, make phone calls, or use social media messages? Knowing the different channels could help other organizers streamline their own notification processes.

The part about winners needing to respond within a specified timeframe is crucial. It's a good reminder that checking your emails regularly is important, especially if you've entered a contest like this.

It's interesting to see how they handle cases where winners don't respond in time. The re-draw process shows their commitment to making sure someone eventually receives the prize.

I appreciate how the article emphasizes the importance of providing accurate contact information. It's a small detail that can make a big difference in ensuring you don't miss out on a winning opportunity.

I'd love to hear some real stories from past winners about how they felt when they received the winning notification. That could add a personal touch and highlight the emotional aspect of winning.

The use of automated notifications for preliminary rounds makes a lot of sense, especially when dealing with a high volume of entries. It shows the organizers are being efficient without compromising on fairness.

I wonder if there's any consideration for winners who might be hesitant to believe the initial notification is genuine. Some people might worry about scams, so having a clear verification process could ease their concerns.

This article made me realize how much thought goes into the winner notification process. It's not just about picking a name randomly; it's a well-structured and organized system.
